Blue Force Tracking (BFT) is a military command-and-control system that provides real-time situational awareness on the battlefield. It integrates GPS receivers, satellite communications, onboard computers, and mapping software to show the location of friendly forces, enemy positions, and operational conditions on a digital map. Soldiers and commanders can use the system to track vehicles and units, exchange messages, and coordinate operations across the battlefield. By delivering near real-time information and improved communication, BFT significantly enhances decision-making, coordination, and combat effectiveness.

IPX Communications Corp. was selected by Northrop Grumman as their Best Systems Supplier — beating over 3,000 competing suppliers — for outstanding performance on the US Army Blue Force Tracking (BFT) project in Iraq.

IPX was chosen by Northrop Grumman, Comtech, and ViaSat to provide the initial installation of 17 Earth Stations globally to support the Blue Force Tracking Network. The system operates on a 7×24×365 Support Model. After initial installs, IPX maintained 99.99% uptime for all locations and upgrades, providing engineers and local support personnel to maintain the satellite and military fort base equipment.
